Bharat Vikas Parishad holds National Governing Board Meeting at Chandigarh from Feb 24-25
Chandigarh, India, Friday, February 23, 2007 :: A meeting of the National Governing Board of Bharat Vikas Parishad (BVP) is being held for the first time ever in City Beautiful, Chandigarh. This meeting will witness important discussions and decisions on many significant resolutions.
The National Governing Board of BVP consists of members of National Executive Committee and all Regional Executive Committees, Presidents, General Secretaries of all states and members nominated by the Apex Body. The National Governing Board, consisting of 326 members, enjoys all powers of the National Executive Committee.
Bharat Vikas Parishad has over 950 branches spread all over India and about 70,000 members dedicated to various altruistic services. Bharat Vikas Parishad works on the five pronged philosophy of Fellowship (Sampark), Co-operation (Sahyog), Moral Orientation (Sanskar), Service (Sewa) and Commitment (Samarpan). The society runs various Handicap Centers, Rehabilitation Centers, Primary Schools, Health Centers and Vocational Training Centers. Organising Health Camps, Tree-Plantation Programs, Promoting Indian Art & Culture, Mass Marriages of Poor Girls etc. form regular activities of BVP. Besides these, the Parishad has also conducted a unique competition 'Know India' to increase awareness and curiosity among students about various aspects of their homeland.
The meeting of the National Governing Board may bring about resolutions targeted at improving the condition of women and women empowerment.
The meeting will begin with the introductory speech by Sh R P Sharma, Working President, BVP. He will be followed Sh I D Ojha, National Secretary General, BVP, who will detail the workings of the last meet at Bangalore and present a report on the achievements of the year 2006-07. The Governing Board will ratify the resolutions of the last meet held at Bangalore.
After the review of the annual expenses and income, the Board will assess the activities of the various State Committees.
A Brain Storming and Open Discussion (Mukt Chintan) session will be conducted on Sunday at 9 am. Queries of the members will then be answered and the suggestions will be debated. The Open Discussion Session is highly significant as it constitutes the experience and suggestions of members from all over the country who have keen ground level vision.
